The Science of Self

with Dr. Rose Erin Vaughan

How do you take the innate healing and self-realization of your Original Hot Yoga practice to the next level through meridian therapy and self-acupuncture? What do those practices entail and how can they lead to the ability to self-treat pain and stress?

The Science of Self trainings and workshops with Dr. Rose Erin explore these questions and more…

But first, her background: “Dr. Rose Erin Vaughan, DAc, E-RYT is an experienced Acupuncturist and innovative Yoga Teacher specializing in chronic and acute pain, injuries, myofascial patterns and the Science of Meridians. For over 20 years, she has worked in a variety of settings including integrative medicine, sports medicine, and classical Yoga. Her primary interest is how the emotions and mental states affect pain patterns, aging, disease and overall well-being. Using the ancient science of Meridians combined with the techniques of Hatha Yoga, she has developed a new approach to opening and healing for all levels.”

Although well-versed in ancient techniques, Erin has a special interest in addressing and healing the physical and emotional ailments of our modern culture, mainly by putting the power to heal back in each individual’s hands.

How do these concepts and practices relate to the 26+2 practice?

That’s exactly what we explored this January in her Science of Self: 26+2 Energy Anatomy workshops!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended and opened themselves and their practices up to a new perspective and approach. These types of events and opportunities are what fuel a lifelong practice and a lifetime of exploration and discovery.

Over the course of the weekend, we learned about the 12 meridians, the emotions related to them and how they coincide with yin/yang energy. Although all of the poses affect all of the energy, we learned the lines that Rose Erin finds most insightful in the postures and techniques of the series we know and love. We gained a deeper appreciation for “Inside out, Bones to skin, Coccyx to the toes, Coccyx to the forehead.” We also dove into certain areas of the body such as the throat (where 11/12 energy lines pass through) and addressed issues that manifest in the knees from the perspective of how therapeutic poses in the series can be for these issues. This is just a taste of what we explored during the workshops.

Some of our biggest takeaways are just how powerful and healing the 26+2 series is. The physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of this sequence of postures and breathing exercises is real and available to everyone who practices with an open-mind, attention to alignment, and a dash of consistency.

Not only are we creating connections between energetic points and pathways in the postures, but throughout the set-ups and “in-between” spaces as well. This class is dynamic, intentional, and holds infinite potential to help you become your own best healer.
